COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL WITH ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY, NOSE LANDING GEAR GE PART NUMBER: 2-8208-1, -2 CESSNA PART NUMBER: 9912370-6, -7 (32-30-26)

1. Description
The Nose Landing Gear Actuator Assembly 2-8208, (Figure 1), is a double acting unbalanced hydraulic
actuator. The actuator is a self-locking unit when in the retracted position. Unlocking is accomplished by
applying hydraulic pressure to the extend port.
The actuator assembly consists basically of a cylinder assembly, rod end cap, piston, head end cap, trans-
fer tube, a single stage internal lock group and an electrical switch to indicate lock/unlock condition.
Currently two configurations of the Nose Landing Gear Actuator Assembly exist: 2-8208-1 and 2-8208-2.

2. Operation
In the retract position, the actuator utilizes an internal single-stage lock mechanism to ensure a positive
self-locked position. Operating off the 1500 psi (10342 kPa) hydraulic system of the aircraft, the unit unlocks
(between 250 and 500 psi (1724 and 3447 kPa)) as pressure is applied to the extend port. When the oper-
ating pressure is reversed, applying the 1500 psi (10342 kPa) to the retract port, the actuator will retract and
lock. Stroke for the unit is 10.62 ± 0.06 inches (269.7 ± 1.52 mm).
